Safe Human Foods Dogs Can Enjoy

Dogs are carnivorous, and their digestive system is different from humans. In fact, veterinary professionals indicate that some human foods can be a source of toxins if consumed by canines. However, some human foods are relatively safe for dogs and provide essential nutrients and other health benefits (i.e., regulate digestion, shiny coat, healthy teeth, etc.). Here are some of the human foods that can dogs can enjoy safety: 

1. Apples

Research studies have identified that dogs require vitamins such as A and C to lead a healthy life. Some of these nutrients are commonly found in fruits such as apples. Also, apples are rich in fiber critical in regulating digestion. If you own a dog, make a point of feeding it with an apple once or twice a week and help him control his digestive system. However, avoid feeding your pet with rotting apples as they have been linked with dog toxicity.

2. Dairy products

Some of the dairy products such as cheese, plain yogurt and milk are also safe for dogs. However, such products need to be fed in minimal quantities. The aspect is linked to the fact that overeating of these daily products causes digestive problems among dogs. It is worth noting that dogs contain low levels of the enzyme lactose that plays a critical role in breaking down some of these daily products. Lactose intolerance may lead to diarrhea as well as vomiting among dogs.

3. White rice

Cooked white rice is one of the feeds that dog owners prefer for pets with stomach upsets. White rice is helpful among dogs as it helps in binding stool and it is easy to digest. It is worth noting that white rice increases the sugar levels in dogs. Therefore, if your dog has diabetes, feed him with relatively small amounts of white rice, especially if it has some stomach upsets.

4. Carrots

Carrots are some of the feds that are relatively health for all dogs. Human beings chew carrots as a means of improving their dental health. In the same case, you can train your dogs on how to eat a carrot once or twice a week. The aspect is critical in the sense that carrots removes any plaques from teeth and enhance dental health. Also, carrots are a good source of Vitamin A. Dogs requires Vitamin A to boost their immune system. Vitamin A is also beneficial to dogs’ coat and skin. However, it is worth noting that excessive uptake of Vitamin A cab is a source of dog toxicity. Therefore, feeds you dog carrots in relatively low amounts.

5. Peanut butter

There are different types of peanut butter. However, unsalted peanut butter free from sugar or any form of sweetness is sage for all types of dogs. It is worth noting such nut butter can be addictive. Feed your dog with moderation to minimize cases of diabetes. Peanut butter also contains other essential elements such as niacin and vitamins like E and B that have been associated with the art of boosting dog’s immunity. Sweetened peanuts contain xylitol that is highly toxic to dogs. If your dog ingests xylitol, make a point of contracting a veterinarian for a check-up. Do not overfeed your dog with peanut butter as you may poison it without your knowledge.

In a nutshell, there are a lot of foods that can be taken by dogs. However, moderation is critical when feeding our dog.
